San Beda torched hapless Benilde, 90-63, to stay unbeaten in the NCAA Season 92 men's basketball tournament on Friday at The Arena in San Juan.
Davon Potts led San Beda's onslaught with 19 points, while Donald Tankoua added 17 and collared 14 rebounds. Robert Bolick and Ranbill Tongco also had 11 apiece for the Red Lions.
San Beda now holds a perfect 4-0 win-loss record and takes the solo lead for now as Mapua, who has a 3-0 card, is facing EAC as of posting time.
The Blazers, on the other hand, have lost all five of their outings so far this season.
The Red Lions seized control from the get-go with a 24-10 blitzkrieg, and they did that even in the absence of ace guard Dan Sara, who is still nursing a fractured finger.
"They're dedicated on playing defense and looking for the open man. Committment to one another, that's what's working for us," he added.
The Blazers simply had no answer, with only Clement Leutcheu and Yankie Haruna carrying most of the scoring load.
Leutcheu finished with 19 points and 15 rebounds before limping his way out of the court at the 3:20 mark of the final quarter. Haruna added 17.
Benilde also lost big man Christian Fajarito a minute before heading into the halftime break after spraining his right ankle.
