EMILIO Aguinaldo College snapped its five-game losing skid with a 73-67 win over San Sebastian on Friday in the NCAA Season 92 seniors basketball tournament.
The Generals were finally able to protect their lead until the end as they climbed to a 2-5 win-loss slate with the victory over the Stags.
Hamadou Laminou had 18 points, 16 rebounds, and five blocks, while Jorem Morada also chipped in 18 for the Generals, who had a series of close defeats before taking the win over San Sebastian.
“Those close games made us stronger,” said EAC coach Ariel Sison. “Last few games namin puro close. I think napakaganda ng ginawa sa amin para mai-close namin ‘yung game.”
The Generals wrested the lead after outscoring the Stags, 23-13, in the third period for a 53-51 lead. Protecting a slim three-point lead, EAC clinched the win with a lay-up by Sidney Onwubere to grab a 72-67 lead with 35 seconds left in the contest.
Onwubere added 13 points for the Generals, who already matched their win total from last season.
