ROMEL Adducul is back in school.
The revered former star of San Sebastian is now involved in preparing the Stags for the coming 90th season of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, 17 years since leaving the school after winning the last of its five straight league championships in the nineties.
Adducul was spotted by Spin.ph sitting at the back of the San Sebastian bench during the Stags’ Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup game against Centro Escolar University on Monday.
The former face of the defunct MBA was later seen giving high fives to the players after the game and was part of the meeting involving the coaching staff.
San Sebastian coach Topex Robinson bared to Spin.ph that Adducul, at the moment, has no formal role with the team but said he will definitely be helping the team for the coming NCAA season.
"He will be helping our bigs," said Robinson, a former teammate of Adducul during the Stags’ mighty championship run from 1993 to 1997.
Robinson made it clear Adducul doesn’t have an official role in the team yet, although he said the team definitely wants to have the retired PBA player to be part of his staff.
"Wala pang formal arrangements with Romel. I hope we can bring him in," said Robinson, also a deputy with the Alaska Aces in the PBA.
Adducul is also a member of the coaching staff of GlobalPort, the last team he played for in 10 seasons in the PBA before calling it a career last season.
