JAVEE Mocon will be a marked man when Arellano University and San Beda College collide on Tuesday in the 92nd NCAA basketball tournament.
Jio Jalalon is expected to lead the Chiefs offense but he vowed to keep an eye on Mocon, who came up with a huge double-double un powering the Red Lions to victory in the final elimination round game that forced a playoff for the top seed in the Final Four.
The match at The Arena in San Juan starts at 4 p.m.
"Sayang lang. Nanghinayang kaming lahat kasi gusto namin mag-number one," said Jalalon moments after the loss.
"Kailangan namin mag-hardwork sa Tuesday at pagbutihan ang pag-scout ng players nila especially kay Mocon. Siguro pagdating sa Tuesday, handa na kami."
With Mocon at the forefront of their attack, the Red Lions built an insurmountable 73-57 lead in the third period and never looked back.
Not even a late-game effort by Jalalon, Zach Nichols, and Kent Salado could help the Chiefs overcome the deficit.
The winner gets the No. 1 seeding and will have a Final Four showdown with fourth seed Perpetual Help, while the loser slides to No. 2 and will take on third seed Mapua.
"Gigil kami, sobra. Gusto namin mag-No.1," he said.
