Coach Jarin wants Red Lions' full, undivided attention in buildup for next NCAA season

FOLLOWING their conquest of the 2015 National Collegiate Championship, San Beda coach Jamike Jarin hopes the Red Lions will play more games together in preparation for next season.

Jarin said he is batting for the entire team to stay together and for players to no longer see action in the coming PBA D-League, something that he missed in his first year with the Red Lions.

In the previous season, several San Beda players led by now-pros Art Dela Cruz and Baser Amer, and Ola Adeogun saw action for different teams in the D-League.

“If things go through, I would really like more games and more bonding. I missed that last year because a lot of the players were participating in the D-League. I wasn’t really able to be with them unlike now,” said Jarin.

San Beda found redemption of sorts to end the season when the Red Lions defeated NCAA champion Letran in their rematch to emerge co-NCC champion this year with reigning UAAP titlist Far Eastern University.

As the Red Lions look to bounce back after their string of NCAA titles ended at five this year, Jarin said the team plans to start preparation as early as next month, and hope the entire team will focus fully in preparing for Season 92.

“That’s the plan right now. Stay together,” said Jarin.

The NCC showcased the future Red Lions with Robert Bolick, Fil-American Davon Potts, and Cameroonian Arnand Noah seeing action along with the other holdovers. Potts even topscored for the Red Lions with 11 points in the lopsided 94-72 victory over the Knights in the semis.

“They are very promising because they get a chance to play in front of national television. At least, they were exposed this year,” said Jarin.
