LEADER battles tailender as San Beda takes on St. Benilde as the second round of the NCAA basketball eliminations start on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Red Lions take on the Blazers at 12 p.m.
San Beda is actually looking to bounce back from a loss after it was denied a sweep by Jose Rizal University last week.
Lions coach Jamike Jarin said he isn’t taking the Blazers lightly, even though they easily won the first round encounter by 27 points.
“It’s going to be tough,” said Jarin as he talks about the team’s second round campaign.
“The teams will get better. We just need to rest, refocus and regroup. We will be ready for CSB,” Jarin said.
The Blazers have yet to chalk up a victory after nine games. But Yankie Haruna is staying positive especially after he won the Slam Dunk contest during the All-Star break.
“It feels good that we finally have something that we actually have to share to the school,” said Haruna.
Arellano and Perpetual Help, meanwhile, looking to stay in second place as they face separate rivals.
The Chiefs take on struggling San Sebastian in the second game at 2 p.m., while the Altas battle against Emilio Aguinaldo College at 4 o’clock.
Arellano and Perpetual Help both hold 7-2 win-loss records.
The Stags (1-8) are out to get a big win to end an eight-game skid, while the Generals (3-6) look to start the second round with a win after surpassing their win total in Season 91 during the first round.
