SAN Beda bounced back from its first defeat of the season, downing Lyceum, 97-74, on Tuesday in the NCAA seniors basketball at The Arena in San Juan.
The Red Lions leaned on Art de la Cruz and Dan Sara in getting back after suffering a loss to Letran last week. San Beda posted its third win in four outings despite the absence of point guard Baser Amer, out with a dislocated right shoulder.
De la Cruz had 22 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists, while Sara had an all-around game of 11 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and six steals.
“You have to give credit to Letran, they won the game,” said San Beda coach Jamike Jarin. “We got beat. And when you get beat, it’s always a wake-up call.”
The Red Lions took a 27-14 lead at the end of the first quarter and continued to pound on the Pirates.
Donald Tankoua had 13 points, while Ryusei Koga added 12 points for the Red Lions.
Guy Mbida scored 13 points for the Pirates, who dropped to 1-3.
