Looking to strengthen bid for sixth straight NCAA title, San Beda to train for two weeks in Las Vegas

    Mar 28, 2015

PRESEASON training abroad have been effective so far for San Beda, and now the Red Lions go to Las Vegas as they prepare for their bid for a sixth straight NCAA title.

The Red Lions leave for the US on Saturday and will train for two weeks at the Impact Basketball program under renowned trainer Joe Abunassar.

The Lions have been going overseas for their offseason buildup, having been to Los Angeles twice under Abunassar before going to Lithuania last year.

This training camp is for their lofty bid to become the first team to win six straight titles in the country’s oldest collegiate league after matching the five-peat of the mid-1990s San Sebastian squad.

“We’re trying to make history… that’s why this training camp is super important,” senior slotman Ola Adeogun told

“This will give us a chance to improve our skills and build camaraderie among ourselves,” added Lions coach Jamike Jarin, who will bring 15 players to the trip.

Stars Baser Amer, Art dela Cruz, and Adeogun banner the squad, which also has three new faces in AC Soberano, Jose Presbetiro, and Ice Reyes — all former Team B campaigners who could make the seniors’ roster this season.

The three guards are all transferees — Soberano from Tarlac State University, Presbitero from Ateneo de Davao, and Reyes, son of former national coach Chot Reyes, from Ateneo de Manila.
