San Beda, Arellano score contrasting wins to stay tied for lead in NCAA Juniors basketball

SAN Beda and Arellano U scored contrasting wins on Monday to remain tied for first in the 92nd NCAA juniors basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.

Sam Abu Hijle 27 points and 13 rebounds as the Cubs routed the Lyceum Junior Pirates, 80-66.

Guilmer dela Torre scored 22 as the Braves edged the Jose Rizal University Light Bombers, 85-80.

San Beda and Arellano both have 11-1 win-loss records.

Abu Hijle scored 10 in the fourth as San Beda put the game out of reach.

"He carried us through in this game," said San Beda coach JB Sison of Abu Hijle.

Robi Nayve and Peter Alfaro combined for 24 points for San Beda.

Lyceum has a 6-5 record, while JRU dropped to 2-10.
