WATER dripping from the ceiling of The Arena in San Juan on Thursday has forced the NCAA to halt the match between Lyceum and College of St. Benilde and move it to a later date.
Heavy rains caused the leak from the ceiling early in the third quarter, rendering the court unplayable.
The game was stopped at the eight -minute and nine-second mark of the third quarter with the Pirates ahead, 32-31.
The league will still hold a meeting to decide where to start the game, either at zero-all, at halftime, or at the exact time when the match was halted.
“We waited another thirty minutes but hindi pa rin nag-clear up yung tulo, so it was decided that the game will be called off and reset on another date,” management committee member Peter Cayco of Arellano said.
The earliest the game will be played will be on October 26, pushing further the basketball season’s end in November.
