LETRAN snapped its five-game slide, beating winless College of Saint Benilde, 57-40, on Tuesday in the NCAA Season 92 basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
The Knights improved their win-loss record to 6-7, a game behind fifth-running Jose Rizal University (7-6).
The Blazers winless in 13 outings and once again set the lowest scoring output for the season, doing even worse than their 45-point performance against Perpetual Help on August 25.
“Marunong pa pala kami manalo,” said Letran coach Jeff Napa as he entered the press room to meet reporters for the postgame interview.
The Knights limited the Blazers to only five points in the second period.
“Malaking bagay. Ikaw ba naman na matalo ka ng limang sunud-sunod. Eto ’yung mag-boboost sa mga bata,” said Napa.
Rey Nambatac scored eight of his 13 points in the second quarter for the Knights, who played without suspended players Jerick Balanza, Marco Sario, and Christopher de la Pena for their roles in the late-game commotion against San Beda last week.
Christian Fajarito had 11 points for the Blazers.
