LADY Tamaraws basketball legend Raiza Palmera-Dy is set to continue her legacy at FEU as she takes on the role of head coach of the FEU Women’s Basketball Team, the squad announced on Thursday.
Palmera-Dy, who was also a mainstay of Gilas Pilipinas women in the past decade, won two UAAP championships with the Lady Tamaraws in Seasons 71 and 74.
She replaces long-time FEU women’s basketball head coach Bert Flores.
FEU last made the UAAP women’s basketball finals in Season 81 when they were led by Gilas Pilipinas women's center Clare Castro.
But the post-pandemic era has been an uphill climb for the Morayta-based squad as they have struggled mightily in the past two seasons of the UAAP.
FEU has missed the Final Four both times in seasons 85 and 86, tallying only a total of five wins across two years.
Under Palmera-Dy, FEU hopes to revitalize its women’s basketball program and go up against new champions UST Growling Tigresses.
She joins UST’s Haydee Ong and UE’s Aileen Lebornio among the female head coaches in UAAP basketball.
