    Perpetual Help's Earl Thompson leads MVP race halfway through NCAA Season 90 eliminations

    HALFWAY through the eliminations, Perpetual Help’s Earl Scottie Thompson leads the NCAA Season 90 men’s basketball MVP statistical race by a mile with 57 total statistical points ahead of teammate Harold Arboleda's 49.56.

    San Beda's Nigerian import Ola Adeogun is running third with 47, followed by Arellano U's Jiovani Jalalon's 46.89 and another Perpetual Help standout Juneric Baloria's 43.56.

    Thompson, 21, averaged a fourth best 17.33 points, a fifth-best 11 rebounds, a second-best 5.56 assists and a second-best 2.11 steals to emerge the best individual player 10 games into Season 90.

    But the player from Digos City in Davao del Sur said his priority is to help the Altas win their first ever NCAA championship.

    "I'm focused on helping my school win an NCAA title, nothing more," said Thompson in Filipino.

    Rounding out the top 10 were Emilio Aguinaldo's Noube Happi (43.22) of Cameroon, San Beda's Arthur dela Cruz (42.75), Lyceum's Joseph Gabayni (41.89), Arellano's Dionce Holts (41.78) of the United States and San Sebastian's Bradwyn Guinto (40.67).

    La Salle-Greenhills' John Gob leads the juniors MVP race with 56.89 points, averaging a whopping 15.11 points, 17.33 boards and 2.22 blocks a game.

    Mapua's Dennel Aguirre has 51 SPs followed by Perpetual Help's Jeszir Sison (46.38),Mapua's Noah Lugo (45.78) and Jose Rizal's Mark de la Virgen (45.33).

    Rounding out the top 10 in the high school MVP hunt were Letran's Joshua Gonzales (43.78), Jose Rizal's Jamil Garcia (42.78), Letran's Jerrick Balanza (42) and San Beda's Niko Abatayo (41.67) and Joshua Andrei Caracut (41.33).
