Perpetual Help, St. Benilde score big wins to share lead in NCAA women's volleyball

UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help and College of St. Benilde defeated separate foes on Monday for a share of lead in 90th NCAA women's volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Altas needed only 61 minutes to stop Mapua, 25-12, 25-19, 25-12, while CSB recovered from a set down to turn back Emilio Aguinaldo College, 20-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-16.

Perpetual Help skipper Jamela Suyat and rookie Cindy Imbo had 11 points apiece to lead the three-time defending champion to its second win in as many matches.

Jela Peta and Audrey Peran finished with six markers apiece for Mapua, which fell to the bottom with a 0-2 card.

Veterans Jeanette Panaga and Jannine Navarro scored 20 and 18 points, respectively, while rookie Kym Ramos contributed 12 as the Lady Blazers also improved their win-loss record to 2-0.

Charmille Belleza scored 14 points for EAC (1-1).
