THE NCAA will have a new-old TV partner starting Season 91.

The country’s oldest collegiate league is tying the loose ends on a deal that will pave the way for a return to ABS-CBN after a three-year stint with Sports5.

“Lilipat na kami,” a league official, who requested not to be named, told Spin.ph on Friday.

The source confirmed that league officials held a meeting this week with their counterparts from the top local TV network, which already broadcasts games of rival college league UAAP.

“Okay na ‘yun. Tingin ko ABS na ‘yan,” the league insider said. “Mga eighty percent na.”

ABS-CBN, which had aired the NCAA games for almost a decade before the league transferred to TV 5, will broadcast games via its Sports + Action channel.

Asked for the reason behind the switch, the source said, “Obvious naman siguro (yung reason),” without elaborating.

The league is expected to announce the decision on Wednesday during the turnover ceremony for the hosting rights from Jose Rizal University to Mapua.
