JRU Heavy Bombers blasted Benilde, 86-56, to register their first win in the NCAA Season 92 men's basketball tournament at the San Juan Arena on Tuesday.
The Heavy Bombers led from start to finish and improved to a 1-2 win-loss record, while keeping the Blazers winless in three outings.
JRU went berserk from the get-go and took a 22-6 spread that they never relinquished.
Paolo Pontejos led all scorers with 23 points, including 11 in the payoff period where JRU built a 30-point lead, 74-44.
"They wanted to prove something, which was nakita ko ngayon (na na-prove nila)," said JRU coach Vergel Menesses.
Teytey Teodoro and Abdoulad Poutouochi chipped in 15 and 10 markers, respectively, for the Heavy Bombers.
"If we play like this, lahat ng teams will have a hard time beating us," Menesses added.
JJ Domingo paced winless Benilde with 21 points.
