THE first half of the NCAA regular season has just ended on Tuesday, so it's as good a time as any to review the top individual performers, based on statistics.
Spin.ph takes a look at the top 10 players in each statistical category, courtesy of NCAA statistics provider One World Connections.
SCORING
Following his 44-point effort last July 3 against College of St. Benilde, Bright Akhuetie of Perpetual Help has emerged as the top scorer after the first round with an average of 21.33 points, followed by Art Dela Cruz of San Beda. Akhuetie has also scored 31 points twice this season for the Altas.

Allwell Oraeme has been a beast down low for Mapua to emerge as the runaway leader in rebounding after the first round with an average of 19.11 a game. He notched a season-high 28 rebounds on August 14 against Letran, while having outputs of 22 and 20 this year to be at No. 6 in the scoring ladder.

Gilas Pilipinas cadet members Scottie Thompson of Perpetual Help and Jiovani Jalalon of Arellano are the runaway leaders in assists with a total of 80. As far as season-best records are concerned, Thompson holds the season-high with 17 followed by Jalalon with 16. Thompson also had a 14-assist game while Jalalon had 15 and 12 outputs.

Rey Nambatac of Letran leads the league in steals with a 3.22 per game average, is closely followed by Jiovani Jalalon of Arellano with 3.0. Incidentally, the player who has the most number of steals this season is is Nambatac's Letran teammate Mark Cruz , who is at No. 3 and had a season-high seven in a July 21 game against San Sebastian.

Once again, Allwell Oraeme of Mapua proved that he is a huge presence in the paint, being the runaway leader in blocks after the first round. The Nigerian blocked a season-high eight shots against St. Benilde last July 8 and had outputs of five (twice) and four this season.
