TO better their best.

That is the modest goal of the Arellano University Chiefs, who go into Season 89 of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament looking to improve on their 6-12 (win-loss) record last year.

“We cannot just be contented with what we were yesterday,” said head coach Koy Banal. “This is our battle cry: we want to better our best.”

From all indications, the Chiefs appeared bound to meet their goals following an impressive preseason showing that had the rest of the 10-team field convinced the Legarda-based school will be a title contender this year.

Compared to last year, Arellano has a more solid team.

James Forrester and John Pinto will remain as the Chief’s main offensive weapons, with major support to be provided by Prince Caperal, Levi Hernandez, Julius Cadavis, Ralph Salcedo and Nicole Bangga.
