THE National Collegiate Athletic Association basketball tournament has postponed its Thursday games at The Arena in San Juan due to inclement weather.
While the downpour caused by tropical storm “Maring” has subsided, some areas in Metro Manila are still recovering from floods, and the league decided to move the matches to a later date.
The league, which already postponed a double-header last Monday, announced the decision on its Facebook page late Wednesday on the eve of the playdate that would have pitted the men’s and juniors’ squads of Emilio Aguinaldo College and Mapua.
“More than anything else, the safety of the athletes and students is important to the member schools,” the league said in a statement.
The league also suspended the opening of the swimming tournament orignally scheduled last Tuesday, and some games of the chess competition on Wednesday.
