UNDERSCORING its full support to the country’s hosting of the Fiba-Asia Men’s Championship, the NCAA has decided to move its scheduled August 5 out-of-town games to another playdate.
The doubleheader pitting Arellano and Jose Rizal University, and Mapua against Emilio Aguinaldo College -- both in the men’s and juniors division -- which was supposed to be played in a still-to-be-determined out-of-town venue has been transferred to August 22, and will instead be played at The Arena in San Juan.
The change bumped off the men’s division match between rivals San Beda and Letran which was originally scheduled to be played on that day. Instead the highly-anticipated Red Lions-Knights clash has been moved to August 24.
“This is to give way to the Fiba-Asia Championship,” read the memo signed by Season 89 management committee chairman Dax Castellano and distributed in the league Thursday.
The qualifier to the Fiba-World Championship next year is set from August 1-11 and will be hosted by the country for the first time in 40 years.
