THE NCAA Management Committee has upheld the result of Jose Rizal University’s loss to Emilio Aguinaldo College, rejecting a protest by the Heavy Bombers on the August 30 game.
JRU filed a protest claiming Teytey Teodoro was fouled while attempting a three-point shot before time expired, but the referees decided following a video review that the foul came after the buzzer.
The Heavy Bombers said Teodoro should have been awarded with three free throws for opportunity to tie the game.
However, Mancom chairman Jose Mari Lacson said the committee has upheld the referees' decision and EAC's 63-60 win.
“The Mancom unanimously voted to deny Jose Rizal's protest. It's up to them (JRU) if they want to elevate it to the Policy Board,” said Lacson.
Paul Supan, JRU’s representative to the NCAA Mancom, said the school will discuss the matter before deciding on its next course of action.
“I will inform our president about the Mancom decision. We will still discuss it,” said Supan.
