ADAMSON scored a big 73-69 overtime conquest of Far Eastern University to stay alive in the Final Four race of the UAAP Season 81 women's basketball tournament on Tuesday at Blue Eagle Gym.
Nathalia Prado came up big in the extra period, dropping seven of her 16 points as the Lady Falcons forced a tie for third with La Salle at 8-5. Prado also corralled 21 rebounds and made four assists and three steals to help Adamson stay afloat in the tight playoff race.
Jamie Alcoy topscored for the Lady Falcons with 18 points and four rebounds, her biggest basket coming in regulation as her lay-up with 19 seconds remaining knotted the score at 60.
Adamson forced Clare Castro to turn the ball over, but Kat Araja missed a potential three-point winner at the buzzer.
It was a different story in the extra five minutes as Prado took charge and buried a big three with 2:28 left that gave the Lady Falcons a 68-64 advantage, before Alcoy put the game away with a split from the line that made it 71-66 with 41 seconds remaining.
Nathalie Razalo added 14 points and six rebounds, while Mariz Cacho chimed in 11 points, three boards and two assists for Adamson.
Castro paced the Lady Tamaraws with 19 points, 20 rebounds, and four blocks, while Fatima Quiapo and Blanche Bahuyan got 12 apiece.
Despite the defeat, FEU still sits at second place with its 9-4 record.
