ALSO-RAN Lyceum stunned Perpetual, 64-61, on Tuesday in a rousing encounter it the NCAA basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
The Pirates improved to a 6-11 card and dealt the Altas their fifth loss in 16 matches, keeping the Altas from securing an outright semis berth.
With the double overtime win over Jose Rizal University last week, though, Perpetual is assured of at least a playoff for a Final Four slot.
"Actually it's the start of the next season for us already," Lyceum coach Topex Robinson said.
"Pretty much the reason why the games still have bearing for us is that we're preparing for next season."
Reymar Caduyac took matters into his own hands in the fourth period, dropping nine of his 15 points to help turn a 43-all third quarter count into a 55-49 Lyceum lead after his triple with five minutes to go.
Bright Akhuetie and Keith Pido joined forces to tie the game at 61-all with 1:16 remaining. But a couple of turnovers in the ensuing plays spelled doom for the Altas as Caduyac and Mike Nzeusseu sealed the win with three of the last four free throws.
Nzeusseu added 11 points for the Pirates.
Akhuetie had game-high 21 markers for the Altas.
