IN anticipation of Letran head coach Aldin Ayo's departure to take on the La Salle coaching position, the school is set to launch a comprehensive search for a new head coach.
Spin.ph has reported that Ayo will be leaving Letran after agreeing to coach the Green Archers in place of Juno Sauler following a meeting with La Salle patron Eduardo 'Danding' Cojuangco on Wednesday night.
Both schools have not issued official statements, but is expected to break the news on Friday night in a thanksgiving party for its NCAA Season 91 champion team school officials and even Ayo are set to address the community.
Fr. Vic Calvo, Letran’s athletic director, declined to make statements regarding Ayo but nevertheless said the school is prepared for any eventuality and is ready to make a comprehensive search similar to what it did when it replaced head coach Caloy Garcia last year.
The search led to the hiring of Ayo, a little-klnown former Knights player who turned into one of the most celebrated coaches in the college leagues after helping Letran end a decade-long title drought.
“Lahat naman open sa lahat,” said Calvo. “‘Yung process niyan, we will go to the formula na ginawa natin kung paano natin nakita si Aldin Ayo.”

Calvo declined to reveal who Letran is eyeing although the names of Letran consultant Glen Capacio, assistant coach Louie Gonzales, and former Letran cager Kerby Raymundo have been mentioned as possible candidates.
In a separate talk with Spin.ph, Capacio said he is set to sit down with Calvo soon.
“Maganda ‘yung naging process na ginawa namin nun,” said Calvo. “We will find someone who is equal or even better than him.”
Asked about its process, Calvo said, “Trade secret. Basta ‘yung ginawa namin, gagawin namin uli. Bago naman siya (Ayo) nakita, ‘yung ginawa naming process, dun namin siya napansin na hindi napansin ng lahat.
Calvo said they are not in a hurry to have a new coach in place when the team fulfills its tournament commitments for the season including the upcoming Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL).
“Why hurry? Hindi naman pabilisan ‘yan. Basta mag-fit sa players at sa process namin,” said Calvo.
