NCAA champion Letran is looking to see action in other tournaments during the offseason to prepare the young Knights as they take over the team from main men Mark Cruz and Kevin Racal.
Mark Cruz was picked by Star and Kevin Racal is set to see action with Alaska in the PBA. Rey Publico has also exhausted his playing eligibility, and the Knights will rely on Rey Nambatac, McJour Luib, Jomari Sollano, Bong Quinto, and Jeric Balanza as they bid for back-to-back titles in Season 92.
Before Season 91, the Knights joined the PBA D-League as MP Hotel although the Manny Pacquiao-owned hotel has yet to set plans for the next season.
Now Letran, which beat San Beda in three games in the NCAA finals, is looking to find other leagues to keep its players sharp.
“We are just waiting kung sino ‘yung mag-ooffer na kung sinong team,” said Gonzales, who represented the Knights in Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum in lieu of head coach Aldin Ayo.
As NCAA champion, Letran is seeded in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL).
“Sabi nga ni coach Aldin na as early as now, we wanted na ma-expose agad ‘yung team lalo na’t malaki ‘yung magiging roles ng iba. At least maaga pa lang, makikita agad namin kung kakayanin ba nila ‘yung role na ibibigay sa kanila,” said Gonzales.
“Bigger role talaga sila ngayon,” he added.
