LETRAN looks to tighten its grip on top, while San Beda has a chance to gain a share of the lead as they face lowly squads on Tuesday at the start of second round of the NCAA Season 91 seniors basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
The league-leading Knights face San Sebastian at 4 p.m. while the Red Lions clash with Emilio Aguinaldo College in the opener at 2 p.m.
The Knights are on top of the team standings with an 8-1 card, followed by the Red Lions with a 7-2 slate.
Letran head coach Aldin Ayo said the Knights should not hold their guard down.
“We need to stay hungry,” Ayo said.
To stay in focus, Letran held a team building session in Baguio City following the end of their first round campaign.
“Ito ’yung adjustment namin. Kulang pa kami sa conditioning,” said Ayo.
The Red Lions hope to get back on the winning track after bowing to Arellano, 84-88, last Tuesday.
San Beda, however, will be without Ola Adeogun, who was slapped with a one-game suspension by the league’s Management Committee for breaking the glass door of the team’s locker room at The Arena in San Juan during halftime of their loss to the Chiefs.
The Stags and the Generals, last placers at the end of the first round, hope to turn things around as they look to improve their 2-7 win-loss cards.
