Letran Knights make it three wins in a row, down Perpetual to boost Final Four bid

LETRAN defeated Perpetual Help, 69-63, on Tuesday to boost its Final Four bid in the NCAA Season 92 seniors basketball tournament.

By winning a third straight game, the Knights improved their record to 8-7 (win-loss) to remain within reach of the top four while sending the Altas to just their fourth loss in 14 outings.

Losses by Perpetual Help and San Beda on Tuesday enabled Arellano to wrest the solo lead with an 11-3 card.]

The Knights are in sixth place, with Mapua in fourth spot with an 8-5 card followed by Jose Rizal University at 9-6.

“Good win for us pero wala pa kaming na-aachive. Naghahabol pa rin kami. Hindi na namin iniisip ‘yun. Ang importante, how we perform every game,” said Letran mentor Jeff Napa.

Rey Nambatac scored 26 points for the Knights, who almost blew a 15-point lead.

Down 65-63, the Altas missed a golden opportunity to tie the game when Daryl Singontiko muffed an undergoal stab with 24 seconds left.

Bright Akhuetie had 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Altas.
