ARELLANO big man Lervin Flores can fly.
Flores displayed his mad hops in the fourth period as he pulled off a chasedown block on San Sebastian's Jayson David in the Chiefs' 99-81 win over the Stags in the NCAA Season 92 seniors basketball tournament.
“Oo, hinabol ko talaga ‘yun, para dumepensa (at) para hindi sila magkumpiyansa. Talagang sipag lang, para din siguro sa teammates ko,” he added.
Following the defensive gem, Flores once again showed his jumping prowess when he came down court and tried reaching the rim using his head, although he fell short.
“Hindi ko pa sukat ngayon eh,” he answered with a smile after being asked about his vertical leap.
With his jumping ability, the 6-foot-5 big man posted a double-double in scoring 10 points while grabbing 13 rebounds and swatting two shots in Arellano’s win. He also added four assists.
Arellano coach Jerry Codinera lauded the efforts of Flores, saying he makes the Chiefs, more known for their deadly backcourt tandem of Jio Jalalon and Kent Salado, a complete squad.
“Maganda naman si Flores dahil nagkaroon kami ng stability sa rebounding, muscle.” Codinera said.
