COACH Louie Alas already bid goodbye to the college team he handled for the last 10 years.
Will superstar son Kevin Louie Alas follow suit?
The younger Alas admitted he is still undecided on whether to play his final year of eligibility for Letran in next season’s NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
Kevin, 20, said he’d rather not make any official statement at the moment especially with the Knights just coming off a tough 67-39 loss to the San Beda Red Lions for this year’s men’s cage championship.
“Undecided pa talaga ako,” said Alas, the last of the Knights to exit from the gloomy Letran dugout at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum after the blowout loss.
In contrast, his father Louie was already firm in his decision to quit the school he had steered to three NCAA championships and five trips to the Finals, a move that certainly made it even harder for a team that came short of a win of completing what could have been a Cinderella season.
“Siyempre, very emotional sa dugout kanina (nung nag-paalam siya sa team),” said the young Alas. “Pero plano niya yun, e.”
His father’s decision, according to Kevin, will weigh heavily on his decision on whether to return for another tour of duty with the Knights.
“Honestly, siguro factor din `yun,” Alas bared. “Pero di pa namin napag-uusapan. Pag-uusapan pa rin ng family `yung decision.”
