JOSE Rizal University officials will discuss whether to pursue the protest over the loss to Emilio Aguinaldo College, but Bombers coach Vergel Meneses said he would drop the whole thing if it was his call.
“Pag-uusapan pa sa school kung itutuloy o hindi,” said Meneses. “Pero kung ako ang tatanungin, huwag na lang. Kasi, because of that, mananalo ka o uulitin ’yung game dahil dun.”
“Let’s give credit to EAC. They played really well,” he added.
The Bombers had their win streak snapped at four by the Generals. JRU, however, believes there was still time left when an EAC player came into contact with Teytey Teodoro as he threw up a three-point attempt late in the match.
The Heavy Bombers had hoped for free throws, but referees waved off the foul after a video review.
Bombers skipper Jordan de la Paz signed the scoresheet indicating an intention to file a protest, but JRU is still required to formally put protest in writing.
Still, Meneses, insisted a foul should have been called on the final possession that would have given the Bombers a chance to tie the game and send it to overtime.
“Sa tingin namin, ako ang interpretation ko, hindi ko naman sinasabing tama ako, usually naman ang pagtawag, late naman. Tingin namin, may 0.1 pa. Pero ’yun ang tawag nila,” said Meneses.
