THE raucous cheers at The Arena in San Juan on Monday during Jose Rizal University’s down-the-wire 73-72 overtime victory over College of St. Benilde were hushed when a fan collapsed in the stands.
James Odo, a first-year computer science major at JRU, collapsed late in the fourth quarter when the Blazers were on a run that eventually forced the extra period.
He was attended to by paramedics and later brought to the nearest hospital as a precaution.
“Naubusan siya ng hininga dahil sa sobrang tuwa at sobrang pagod,” Chester, his classmate, told Spin.ph moments later. “(Actually) nangyari na sa kanya yun dati, pero ngayon lang nangyari sa game.”
