JOSEPH Eriobu hoping to make the most of his final season with Mapua and the second chance given by coach Atoy Co.
Dropped by the Cardinals when he signed with Tanduay in the PBA D-League as Mapua prepared for the NCAA last season, Eriobu pleaded with Co to take him back.
Now the 24-year-old Eriobu making his presence felt again at Mapua, and he hopes to continue to repay his coach’s faith.
Eriobu had 26 points and nine rebounds for Mapua in its 101-97 overtime victory over San Beda, the Cardinals’ first win over the Red Lions in five matches since 2013.
Kaso, naka-commit na ako sa D-League so in short, tinanggal niya ako,” said Eriobu.
“Bumalik ako sa kanya at nakiusap ako. Sabi niya nung una, hindi na puwede. Pero the next day, nagkasalubong kami, binigyan niya ako ng chance. Naawa lang siya sa akin,” said Eriobu.
Now Eriobu hopes to continue his fine play for Mapua, especially for Co.
Kahit papaano, nababalik ko ’yung tiwala niya sa akin,” said Eriobu, who plans to apply for the PBA draft next year.
