JOSE Rizal University routed Emilio Aguinaldo College, 67-47, on Friday to snap a two-game losing skid in the NCAA Season 91 seniors basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
The Heavy Bombers recorded their second win to even their record at 2-2 and break their slide, including their game against San Sebastian last Tuesday which saw them lose a 12-point fourth quarter lead.
“Actually nakita mo na gusto nila mag-compete right from the start, then strong finish,” said JRU coach Vergel Meneses.
“Ang problema lang namin, wala ‘yujng aggressiveness na parang hindi gigil especially when we got the lead against San Sebastian, they relaxed,” he added.
JRU outscored EAC, 16-7, in the third period to set up the rout.
Abdoul Poutouchi topscored for JRU with 15 points, but most of it came when the outcome of the game was already settled.
Jordan Dela Paz added 10 while Mark Neil Cruz had nine, all in the first half.
Sidney Onwubere had 10 points and 17 rebounds for the Generals, who fell to a 0-4 (win-loss) card after shooting just 13-of-53 from the field.
