JOHN Kallos has been promoted as head coach of the Adamson women’s basketball team following Mike Fermin's appointment as the Baby Falcons mentor.
Kallos takes over the Lady Falcons squad that returned to the UAAP Final Four last year.
The 34-year-old Kallos is also the coach of St. Paul College-Pasig, which has won titles in the WBL last year and finished first runner-up in the WNCAA. He also coached the Ombudsman Graft Busters in the UNTV Cup.
Kallos said no major changes will be made as far as the Lady Falcons' system is concerned, especially with Fermin still having a major role in the team as a consultant.
“Wala namang nagbago. Assistant naman ako ni coach Mike. Ngayon, nasa likod ko pa rin siya as consultant. Thankful lang ako sa mga pari na they trust me to be the next head coach ng Lady Falcons,” he said.
“Same system pa rin. We will implement the same system,” added Kallos, who already served as an acting coach in one game last season in the UAAP when Fermin had a pressing matter to attend to, a game which he won against Ateneo.
Kallos said he hopes to keep intact a team led by Jamie Alcoy, Kaye Pingol, and Nathalia Prado, who led the school back to the UAAP Final Four for the first time since 2013.
“Intact ‘yung team namin from last year. Nandiyan pa rin sila. ‘Yung mga recruits namin, for next year pa. Hopefully, sana magawa namin uli ‘yun,” said Kallos.
