A SHORT break was all it took for Jio Jalalon to shake off a scary fall, getting back in finish the game and help Arellano seal the win over San Sebastian.
He revealed later that he still felt pain in his head minutes after the match.
“May masakit pa rin ng konti,” said Jalalon, who hit his head on the floor after landing awkwardly following a lay-up over Jayson David midway in the fourth quarter.
The Arellano star guard stayed on the floor near the railings for a few moments before returning to the bench on his own power to get treatment from medics.
It was only the start of the second round and there was no urgency to return for the star guard. But the Arellano skipper insisted that he needed to get back in the game and secure the victory.
“’Yung lamang, bumababa na rin. Kailangan na bumalik ako sa court para makatulong,” said Jalalon.
Jalalon finished with a double-double of 33 points and 10 assists.
“Pag steal ko at lay-up, na-outbalance ako, naapakan ‘yung paa ko, dumercho ulo ko. Sobrang sakit. Buong ulo ko masakit,” said Jalalon.
Arellano coach Jerry Codinera said he had no doubts on bringing Jalalon back in the game after he emerged unhurt in the incident.
“Tigas naman ng ulo ni Jiovani,” said Codinera in jest.
“He is playing well. Bad start si Jiovani, maraming turnovers pero naka-recover siya,” he added.
