ARELLANO has put together a four-game winning streak since losing its opening game in the NCAA Season 91 men’s basketball tournament.
The effort is good enough to prepare the Chiefs for the daunting task ahead of them – beat surprising leader Letran.
The Legarda-based team will see action against the undefeated Knights next week, and according to head coach Jerry Codinera the Chiefs need to do their homework to get past Letran.
“Letran is back. The competition is getting tighter and we have to come out prepared. (Their plays are) very disruptive but we will find a way to keep the game close," Codinera said.
Veteran Jiovani Jalalon and Michael Salado echoed their coach's belief and said they need to focus on Letran’s big guns of Mark Cruz and Ray Nambatac.
"Hindi kami magre-relax. Nabigla din kami na biglang lumakas yung Letran. So ayun, kailangan namin magtrabaho," said Jalalon shortly after the Chiefs demolished San Sebastian on Friday, 104-92.
The win forged a three-way tie for second place at 4-1 amongst Arellano, Perpetual Help, and defending champion San Beda, all within striking distance of the 5-0 Knights.
