JEBB Bulawan of Lyceum redeemed himself from last year’s loss by finally ruling the slam dunk contest of the NCAA All Stars on Friday at The San Juan Arena.
The 22-year old native of Sorsogon jumped over teammates Shaq Alanes and Joseph Gabayni and execute a two-handed slam for a perfect 30 during the dunk off against Mustafa Haruna of St. Benilde.
Bulawan earlier pulled off a one-handed slam over Gabayni for his first dunk in the finals, earning 29 points.
Haruna also had 29 points after a similar one-handed dunk over teammate JR Ongteco to force a dunk off.
“Very proud po ako sa school ko pati po sa sarili ko kasi very big achievement ito para sa akin,” said Bulawan.
“First time ko po mag-champion kasi last year hindi ako nag-champion kaya sabi ko this year gagawin ko best ko para sa school,” he added. “Target ko talaga mag-champion,” he said.
Haruna finished runner-up as he failed to convert the basket during the dunk off.
Meanwhile, Letran ace guard Mark Cruz emerged the three-point shootout king after finishing with 18 points in the finals.
“Nilaro ko na lang kasi kung magpapa-pressure ako don magmimintis ang mga tira ko,” said Cruz.
Wilson Baltazar of Lyceum tallied nine points in the finals to finish second.
