    Sep 24, 2015

LYCEUM beat undermanned Emilio Aguinaldo College, 59-45, on Thursday for their fourth win in the NCAA Season 91 men’s basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

Cameroonian reinforcement Jean Nguidjol led the Pirates with 16 points and 14 rebounds to go with two blocks, while Mer Ayaay scored 10 points.

Pirates coach Topex Robinson said reminded his wards to respect the game as they faced an EAC side that had only nine players.

The Generals played without Jeric Diego, Sidney Onwubere and Raymund Pascua, who were suspended for their roles in a parking-lot brawl that also involved Perpetual Help’s Niko Cabiltes. Diego and Onwubere are suspended for a game, while Pascua will be out for three matches.

“I just told them to honor the game,” said Robinson. “To honor the game means not to showboat, not to be flashy, just respect the game we love. We will always do it the right way.”

Lyceum, which now holds a 4-12 win-loss record, will face Jose Rizal University and College of St. Benilde in is final two matches.

“Were big picture thinkers, as much as we want to cry our season there’s a lot of basketball to be learned and a lot to be played,” said Robinson.

Francis Munsayac scored 11 points, while Christ Mejos and Laminou Hamadou had 10 markers each for EAC, which is in the bottom with a 2-14 record.

Jefferson Mallari was ejected from the game after he was called for second motion on Nguidjol at 8:38 in the third quarter.
