SAN Beda goes for a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four on Thursday when the Red Lions face Arellano in the NCAA Season 91 men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Sporting a 12-4 win-loss record and tied for first place with Letran, San Beda is gunning for one of the top two spots with the win over Arellano in the 4 p.m. game.
Even though the seeding remains uncertain, what’s important is that San Beda will have the twice-to-beat Final Four incentive with the win over Arellano.
Under NCAA rules, teams tied for first place go through a playoff.
“We know we have two opportunities but if we can get the chance to get it now, we'll go for it,” San Beda coach Jamike Jarin said.
The Chiefs, on the other hand, are in a must-win situation against the Red Lions as they hold a 10-6 record and in a tie with the Mapua Cardinals for fifth place in the team standings.
In the first game, Lyceum (4-13) looks to wrap up Season 91 with a win against College of Saint Benilde (4-12) at 2 p.m.
