COLLEGE of St. Benilde head coach Gabby Velasco hopes to turn their infamous start to NCAA Season 92 as a huge learning experience for his young squad.

CSB notched its worst start since joining the NCAA in 1998 after going 0-12 with its loss to Perpetual Help, and is now on a 14-game losing streak since last season. But Velasco is glad his players are responding with the right effort and attitude on the court—something he’s been wanting to see from them since the season began.

“We want the best effort here, whether it's a losing venture, or it's a losing game, or a winning game," Velasco said.

“It's not only winning, winning eh. We can lose games but we have the best effort,” he added.

Velasco said some of the players have been showing their all-out hustle despite their struggles on the court.

"Some nakakapag-pick up, some really slow, you know wala pa ring gana and things like those you see in some players,” he said.

“But to some, the effort is still there eh, matutuwa ka talaga. That's a good attitude. That's a good sign, ‘yun naman hinahanap namin dito eh." Velasco added.

Now that the Blazers are out of contention, Velasco hopes that this season will serve as a lesson to the young team to use and close out the season strong.

"What is important is that we learn, we mature. Hopefully we will use it in the future,” said Velasco.
