Howard Mojica, the reigning league MVP, uncorked a match-best 19 hits including 18 on kills as the Generals nailed their third straight win to move ahead of idle Perpetual Help and College of St. Benilde.

The Altas and Blazers are currently in joint second with identical 2-0 (win-loss) records.

The Stags, who were paced by Richard Tolentino's 16 points, fell to their third straight defeat.

In women's action, Gretchel Soltones, the women's MVP, went on spiking spree as San Sebastian turned back EAC, 25-13, 25-17, 21-25, 25-8, to seize the solo lead with a perfect 3-0 mark.

The power-hitting Soltones, honed by her experiences playing in the Shakey's V-League and the national team, erupted for 27 points, including a league-best 26 on spikes as the Lady Stags surged on top of the standings.

“She was feeling it, that's why we kept going to her,” said San Sebastian coach Roger Gorayeb of Soltones.
