Remy Morada heroics in EAC upset win over Letran earn him NCAA Player of the Week honors

    Aug 9, 2015

EMILIO Aguinaldo College guard Remy Morada is nowhere near the top of the MVP candidates list. But for just one special day, he played like one.

Morada lifted the Generals to a shock 83-69 win over an erstwhile unbeaten Letran team, the Generals backcourt man who entered the match averaging a paltry 3.80 points coming up with a huge game of 18 points with five triples at The Arena in San Juan.

The EAC role player shone in the fourth quarter, with a 12-point barrage featuring a four-point play that helped dash the Knights' hopes of a first round sweep.

That one huge game earned Morada the nod of the writers covering the NCAA, picking him as Accel Quantum 3XVI-NCAA Press Corps Player of the Week over San Beda Art de la Cruz.

Morada also pulled down 10 rebounds, issued three assists and came up with a steal to help EAC nail a second straight win after starting the season with five losses.

What made the moment more special was Morada's effort came exactly on a day his family was observing the first death anniversary of his mother Lilanie.

"This game is for her," said Morada.
