Arellano Chiefs manage slim win over Lyceum Pirates to grab share of second in NCAA 92

DIONCEE Holts posted a huge double-double as Arellano edged Lyceum, 81-76, on Tuesday in the NCAA Season 92 seniors basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Holts had 20 points and 15 rebounds in his best game this season as the Chiefs scored their sixth win in eight outings.

Arellano joined Perpetual Help in second place behind unbeaten San Beda.

Kent Salado finished with 17 points, while Jio Jalalon celebrated his birthday scoring 13 points and issuing seven assists for the Chiefs.

Holts was instrumental in the Chiefs’ pullaway, scoring nine points in the final frame including a jumper that put Arellano ahead, 78-66, with 1:42 left in the game.

The Pirates trimmed the gap to three points but Reymar Caduyac missed the triple in their final possession.

Cameroonian big man Mike Nzeusseu had 24 points and 17 rebounds for the Pirates, who skidded to their second straight defeat to drop to 3-5.
