SAN Beda registered its second straight victory at the expense of the Lyceum Pirates, 91-86, in the NCAA Season 92 men’s basketball tournament at the San Juan Arena on Tuesday.
Davon Potts scored seven straight points in the final two minutes as the Red Lions regained control, 88-85, after blowing a 77-69 lead early in the payoff period.
A Donald Tankoua jumper put the game away for good for the Red Lions.
Potts, also the hero of the Lions’ opening-day win against Letran, hit three 3-pointers and wound up with a team-high 19 points.
Dan Sara scored 14 and Arnaud Noah had 12 points.
“We need these kinds of games because this team is very young,” said San Beda coach Jamike Jarin. “In the end we made the big plays.”
Wilson Baltazar led all scorers with 24 points, whileMike Nzeusseu had 18 for the Pirates, who absorbed their second straight loss.
