DAN Sara remained undeterred that he can get his game going again after suffering another setback on his return from a hand injury.
Sara got major minutes for San Beda on Tuesday when he finished with 11 points but sat out late in the game after hurting his left hand anew during a battle for a loose ball in their 82-64 win over College of Saint Benilde.
After the game, Sara went to Cardinal Santos Medical Center to have his hand checked, although the initial prognosis is positive since he can move it.
“Papa-X-ray ko uli ‘yung hand ko kasi medyo nag-swollen. Nagagalaw ko naman pero may pain. I tried na makabalik sa game pero siyempre, para ma-sure lang, ipa-check na muna sa Cardinal,” said Sara.
Sara admitted he is still regaining his form after sitting out three games due to the hand injury. He also came late after attending to some matters in Zamboanga during the break.
“Tagal kong nawala sa team. Honestly, before this game, isang beses lang ako nag-training kasi nagpunta ako sa Zamboanga, na-late ako sa training. Even though na-late ako, the coaches gave me an opportunity to play,” said Sara.
Even with the missed games and training, San Beda coach Jamike Jarin said he liked what he saw from Sara so far in his return from injury.
“He looked good. He lacked the playing time and experience so he was making bad decisions. One good thing about it is he is a leader and he listens,” said Jarin.
With the second round already underway, Sara is determined to get in tip-top shape for the remainder of the season.
“Wala ako sa kundisyon talaga right now pero I’m trying na makabalik sa game ko talaga at maka-contribute sa team,” said Sara.
