    Clare Castro monster double-double powers FEU past La Salle in UAAP women's hoops

    CLARE Castro turned heads for Far Eastern University in a 77-62 win over La Salle on Saturday in the UAAP Season 81 women's basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

    The 6-foot-4 center had 39 points, 19 rebounds and three blocks as the Lady Tamaraws rose to solo second place with a 7-3 card.

    Valerie Mamaril chipped in 10 points and two boards, Fatima Quiapo contributed six points, 12 rebounds and four dimes, while Blanche Bahuyan had six points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

    Marie Arciaga led the Lady Archers with 18 points and three assists as Ana Castillo got 14 points and seven rebounds.

    Angel Quingco tallied a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards for La Salle, which fell to an even 5-5 slate.

    Adamson bounced back with a 69-43 rout of University of the Philippines to regain its standing at third place.

    Mariz Cacho starred for the Lady Falcons, uncorking 24 points and seven rebounds as Nathalie Prado just missed out on a double-double with her nine points, 11 boards, while making five assists.

    Adamson rose to 7-4 in the standings.

    Carmelita Bascon was the lone Lady Maroon to make it to double-digits with her 10 points and five rebounds.

    The losing streak continues for UP, suffering their 26th straight defeat and is now 0-10 this season.

    Meanwhile, Ateneo squeaked past UE, 69-63, for its fourth win in 10 outings.

    Jollina Go towed the Lady Eagles to the victory with 21 points, going 4 for 10 from the three-point line, on top of five rebounds and two assists.

    Katrina Guytingco contributed 17 points and six rebounds, while Alyssa Villamor notched 12 points, four assists, and three boards.

    UE leaned on the Pedregosa sisters with Princess registering 18 points and 21 rebounds and Anne delivering 13 points, nine boards, six assists and four steals.

    The Lady Warriors sunk to 2-8 in the standings.
