CJ PEREZ has moved closer to formally becoming part of the Lyceum Pirates after joining the NCAA team's practices on Monday.

Head coach Topex Robinson confirmed Perez suited up in Lyceum's practice for the first time on Monday with the formal enrollment coming in the next few days.

Perez is set to move to Lyceum after failing to meet the academic requirements of Ateneo for student-athletes. He was one of seven players who reportedly didn’t make the cut joining Arvin Tolentino, Hubert Cani, Jerie Pingoy, John Apacible, Clint Doliguez, and Kemark Carino.

With the projected move, Perez is set to be reunited with Robinson, his coach at San Sebastian when he played for two years with the Stags before moving to Ateneo.

However, the former Stag, who has already spent a year in residency with Ateneo after his move from San Sebastian, will have to undergo a year in residency to be eligible to join the Pirates in the NCAA.

Robinson said Perez is now set to join tournaments of Lyceum particularly the Got Skills league in which UAAP teams will reportedly see action in preparation for Season 79 in September.

“For sure, lalaro na siya sa mga tournaments namin,” said Robinson. “May Got Skills sa July para ata sa UAAP teams ata ‘yun pero we are going to join that league para maganda magiging exposure niya kasi UAAP ang mga teams.”

Robinson said Perez is also set to enroll soon as they wait for his papers from Ateneo, which were released through the help of team manager Epok Quimpo.

“Bukas yata ibibigay na ni Sir Epok ‘yung papel niya. ‘Yun na lang ang hinihintay. Sinabi na rin naman ni Sir Epok na ibibigay naman,” said Robinson.
