CJ ISIT'S season came to a premature end when he was hit by a Dioncee Holts elbow in the third quarter of Mapua’s loss to Arellano in the NCAA Season 92 Final Four on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Isit was going for a steal when he was hit with the right arm of Holts. He sustained a cut above his left eye and never got to return as the Cardinals' season ended at the hands of the second-seeded Chiefs, 92-80.
“I’m not sure but I got kind of wiped out and cut me open and took me out. I’m definitely disappointed but that happens,” said Isit.
For his part, Holts was quick to apologize, saying he didn’t see Isit coming in for a steal.
“I didn’t see him until I saw the replay, like ‘Woah.’ I didn’t see him. I’m sorry,” said Holts.
Isit also acknowledged that it was not intentional.
“I couldn’t really see anybody. I know it wasn’t intentional so it’s part of the game,” said Isit, who went to the hospital after the game.
Isit admitted he was disappointed with the result of their season but said he has no regrets.
“I can’t say we accomplished what we had set out for, but I definitely gave my all so no regrets there,” said Isit, who is eyeing a stint in the PBA D-League during the coming offseason.
