MIKE Buendia has joined Caloy Garcia’s coaching staff at Letran, taking himself out as candidate for the College of Saint Benilde head-coaching job.

Garcia has confirmed to Spin.ph that Buendia has joined the Knights coaching staff as one of his assistants after his contract with the Blazers ended last month.

Buendia, like Garcia an assistant of Yeng Guiao at PBA ballclub Rain or Shine, has already joined Garcia in a similar role at Erase XFoliant in the PBA D-League.

Buendia took over as Benilde's interim head coach when Richard Del Rosario stepped down from the position after the last NCAA season, making him the top candidate for the vacant position.

With Buendia's move to the Knights, St. Francis of Assisi head coach Gabby Velasco and ex-National University mentor Rico Perez have become the top candidates for the post.
