BRIGHT Akhuetie posted a double-double as Perpetual downed San Sebastian, 76-61, on Thursday in the NCAA Season 92 men's basketball tournament at the San Juan Arena.
Akhuetie had 20 points and 20 rebounds to go with two assists in an emphatic performance that lifted the Altas to their second win in four games.
San Sebastian, meanwhile, dropped to a 1-2 win-loss record.
Akhuetie spearheaded the Altas' attack in the payoff period, scoring eight of his total output to help keep the Stags at bay.
Daryl Singontiko scored 12 points and Genmar Ilagan added 11 for Perpetual.
Despite the victory, Perpetual head coach Jimwell Gican was far from satisfied.
"Buti na lang nanalo kami kahit masama laro namin," said Gican, whose team committed 30 turnovers.
But it was a confidence-boosting victory nonetheless, which the team will need when it faces powerhouse San Beda Red Lions on Tuesday.
"Medyo matinding preparation ito. Tignan na lang natin," said Gican.
Regille Ilagan paced San Sebastian with a game-high 27 markers.
